Braided Love

Sections of one day show the complications of a relationship built on a pain that has never been confronted.

Rand Abou Fakher is a filmmaker and artist. She began her studies in music as a flutist at the Syrian Conservatory,  broadening her practice in Brussels to audiovisual arts. In 2018 she wrote and directed the short film Braided Love which premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival. Her following short film So We Live premiered at Berlinale Shorts 2020 and went on to be selected in several international festivals. Rand has served as a film festival jury member, mentored in various film workshops, and shared her expertise as a guest speaker at institutions like the Doha Film Institute Short Script Lab and the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival. Since 2021, she has worked as a programmer for the Toronto Arab Film Festival. Her multidisciplinary research project, The Act of Witnessing: Challenging Hierarchies in Crafting the Moving Image, was initiated during a two-year art residency at Beursschouwburg in Brussels. Her feature film, On the Way to Forgive I Forgot Myself, is supported by the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) in Belgium and is currently being developed at Torino ScriptLab.
