1st edition - 2019
The 1st edition of the Arab Women’s Film Festival in Brazil took place in-person in CCBB Rio de Janeiro from March 07th to March 25th 2019. There were screenings of 37 films among feature and short films from 33 film directors. Besides film screenings, we hosted film discussions, 03 roundtables and a masterclass with the Algerian director Sofia Djama. The curation was made by Ana França and Analu Bambirra.
2nd edition - 2021
The 2nd edition took place online (due to the COVID-19 pandemics) from May 19th to June 27th 2021 for all Brazilian territory, in partnership with CCBB/RJ. 45 films by 31 directors were screened. The edition hosted roundtables, film discussions and a masterclass with the Palestinian director Larissa Sansour. In this edition, we hosted a tribute to the Tunisian director Moufida Tlatli and to the Lebanese director Jocelyne Saab. We also hosted screenings with a focus on the Moroccan director Randa Maroufi and on the Palestinian director Larissa Sansour.
