Yasmine Benkiran is a Moroccan-French director and screenwriter. She grew up in Rabat and moved to Paris at 18 to study philosophy and communications. After professional experience in Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Paris, and London, she joined LA FÉMIS (screenwriting workshop) and earned her screenwriting degree. Yasmine writes for both television and film. She is also the author of two books on Morocco and a podcast series about Alice Guy, the first female director in history. In 2018, Yasmine directed the short film L’heure d’hiver (Tanger IFF, Off-courts Trouville). Her first feature film, Reines, was presented at the Venice Film Festival at the closing of the International Critics’ Week.
